Across the board the most common nutritional problem that we see at MBVC is birds being fed all-seed or all-grain diets. This can be harmful in itself but can also lower a bird’s immunity and overall ability to fight other diseases. Another common issue is how food is presented to encourage enrichment in pet birds.
The following articles discuss these and other nutritional challenges from a general perspective as well as covering requirements for individual species. They are designed to help owners ensure that their birds are receiving appropriate, optimal nutrition. There may be specific considerations for individual birds that may not be covered in these general articles. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call our clinic or make an appointment with one of our avian veterinarians.
