Bird Flu Appointment Guidelines

Due to the recent discovery of H5N1 HPAI Avian Influenza within 50km of our clinic, we are implementing increased biosecurity measures at Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic.
Please call (03) 9764 9000 before entering if the clinic if you bird is exhibiting the following symptoms:
For Poultry (chicken, duck, peafowl, geese):
sudden drop in egg production
lethargy or not eating/drinking
swollen head or limbs
bruising on comb, feet, or skin
breathing issues or runny nose
sudden death
For Wildlife (or birds rescued from the wild):
can’t stand, walk, or fly properly
droopy or puffed-up appearance
breathing problems (panting or sneezing)
unusual head or neck posture
sudden death (especially in large numbers)
For all other birds:
Multiple birds unwell or death
Severe breathing difficulties
Neurological signs: loss of balance or tremors
Discharge from the nose, mouth and/or eyes
We ask for your patience as we may ask you to wait in the carpark or triage over the phone to ensure the safety of our staff and patients.
